Metal Slug Comes to the GBA

One of SNK’s most popular arcade games of all time hasn’t changed it’s formula in the half dozen or so iterations it’s gone through. Metal Slug is a beuatifully animated 2D sidescroller that has crossed platforms from Arcade to PC to just about every other system, except the Game Boy where it would seem a natural home.

Today SNK announced Metal Slug Advance for the GBA and promised all the same explosive action from the arcade with an added strategy element. Collectible E-Cards throughout the game will give players weapon or vehicle power-ups, open doors and increase the players strength. Gamers must find the the perfect combination of cards, switching them on and off, in order to properly complete stages and bonus assignments or rescue hostages placed throughout.

100 cards, six missions and 4 mini-stages and puzzles promise for at least a few good hours while waiting for a plane. Or a tank.
