Sensitivity Overload

So I’m flipping channels between all those that show 24 hour cartoons:
Cartoon Network, Toon Disney, Nick Toons, Boomerang. CN has totally
spies, a crappily animated series about teenage super spy girls that
looks to move about 15 frames per second. Toon Disney has Recess, a
series I never really got into. Nick Toons has Spongebob, which I can
only stand so many minutes of and Boomerang has Tom and Jerry from the
mid 50’s, which is where my finger stopped pressing.

Now, here’s a classic (though the title escapes me) T & J toon
directed by Fred Quimby in which Tom is exhausted, but the maid of the
house beats him everytime she finds him napping. Jerry, of course, does
everything in his power to help Tom sleep, if nothing else, to see him
get beat.

But something catches my ear. The voice of the black maid has been
re-dubbed! The audio is 10 times better in quality than the rest of the
show and is like fingernails on the chalkboard of a monestary bound by
a code of silence. There was some controversy in the 50’s that caused
the voices to be dubbed by June Foray, due to racial tension, but
restored. Now it sounds like a white women trying to do a black woman’s
voice. It sounds horrible. C’mon! MGM, restore this stuff! Trust me,
anyone that might be offended isn’t gonna be watching in the first
place. At least try and match the audio quality.
