UK Recognizes Best in Sci-Fi

The London International Festival of Science Fitction and Fantastic Film (LIFSFFF) have been honoring sci-fi filmmakers with their own version of the Oscars for the 4th year straight. Independence film makers in the UK submit short, full length features and animated fair to the festival for screening alongside other sci-fi blockbusters and classics, such as Star Wars or the Matrix.

For the most part, the nominees and winners will be unfamiliar, but like Cannes or Sundance, these are future filmmakers at work. Here’s the list:

Best Feature Film: Primer (Shane Carruth)

Best Short: La Vie d’un Chien (John Harden)

Best Director: Brad Anderson (The Machinist)

Best Actor: Christian Bale (The Machinist)

Best Supporting Actor: Jim Peterson (Saving Star Wars)

Best Screenplay: Bruce Dellis (NETHERBEST OF BERM-TECH INDUSTRIES)

Best Newcomer to SF/action: Vinnie Jones (Slipstream)

Best New Director to SF/Action: David Van Eyssen (Slipstream)

Best SF/Action Movie: Recon 2020 (Christian Viel)
