Hip Games and George Romero Erect City of the Dead
Horror master George A. Romero is lending his twisted vision, and his
voice, to Canadian based Hip Games to bring City of the Dead to
consoles and PCs spring 2006.
The survival horror title throws players into the role of one several
survivors of a “Dawn of the Dead” style catastrophe. You escape via
helicopter from a city infested with walking corpses only to land and
subsequently be stranded on Isla Mortal, a secluded island whose secret
military installation has been overrun by said zombies.
Time to get your guns.
Tom Savini,
a veteran zombie film actor, not to mention horror make-up wizard, will
lend a distinct voice to to William “red” McLean, the ex-lawman who
provides cover fire for players during the game and eventually becomes
a playable character. In addition, the title is promising a distinct
single player story mission, split-screen co-op, a party mode and four
player on-line action that lets players choose to be human OR zombie.
Should make for a decent mix of gameplay, kinda like Splinter Cell meets Resident Evil.
We’re expecting to get a full preview at this year’s E3. Look for more in the coming weeks.
