Pac N Roll Bounds onto the DS
Award winning developer, Namco, announced recently the second DS title
to feature that familiar smiley face sphere in Pac N Roll.
Before the emoticon stole his likeness, Pac-Man was a video game staple
in arcades and homes across america. Although a slew of games followed
the simple maze muncher of the 80’s, Paccy slowly faded from the
mainstream, but it looks like Nintendo’s newest portable, the DS, might
just resurrect the hungry little dot. First with the quirky Pac-Pix
drawing game and now with Pac N Roll another quirky title reminiscient
of Marble Madness of classic gaming eras long past.
Players
use the stylus unique to the DS to guide Pac-Man through mazes, off
platforms, into dash-zones and over his favorite foods (pellets and
ghosts) in order to rescue friends and family that have been turned
into inanimate spheres by the nefarious monster Golvis. Power ups are
sure to upset Atkins lovers, as they come in the form of chocolate
bars, allowing Pac-Man to fly or don armor to crash through walls and
sustain more damage.
As a bonus, Namco has included the
original classic Pac-Man and a dual-player slugout mode to see who can
eat the most pellets and boast the higher score. Expect Pac N Roll this
summer for the Nintendo DS.
