Soul Calibur 3 Manual Misprint

Many a night has gone by in front of the DreamCast, PS2, GameCube and
Xbox duking it out with the guys over Soul Caliburs 1 and 2. The
nightly beatings were in the forms of Vs. Team Battles, a mode in which
each player picks up to 8 different fighters in a tournament-style
face-off. Fans of the series will tell you it’s their preferred way to
play.

So naturally when Namco announced Soul Calibur 3, fans couldn’t wait to
see what new features would be added to the versus mode. Despite a
mention of Vs. Team Battle in the manual, come release time, the mode
is beyond missing. Initially fans thought it was something that needed
unlocking, but a chat with Namco recently proved otherwise:

NamcoRep: Thank you for contacting Namco’s Live Support. How may I help you?
MediaGeeks:
good morning Mr. NamcoRep. I recently bought SC3 for the ps2 and in the
manual it mentions (on page 3) a VS Team Battle mode for head to head
play

MediaGeeks: I wasn’t able to find this mode anywhere in the actual game
MediaGeeks: my questions simply is, does this mode exist (i.e. does it need to be unlocked) or is this an error in the manual?
NamcoRep: you need to play through the game and then purchase the extra modes from the shop.
MediaGeeks:
I’ve played through a considerable amount, though I’m not doubting this
to be true, I just haven’t seen that item for purchase yet. Bottom line
though, yes or no please, IS there a Vs Team Battle mode?

NamcoRep: No, there is no Team Battle mode, sorry about that. It appears to be a misprint, and is being corrected.
MediaGeeks: I see. To your knowledge, how is this to be communicated to those who have already purchased the game?
NamcoRep: I am unaware of any strategy to provide this info.
MediaGeeks: I understand, thank you. That’s all the questions I had.
NamcoRep: Thank you for visiting. Please contact us at anytime.
MediaGeeks: Will do. Thanks.

So there it is. No Vs. Team Battle and an error in the manual.
Hopefully that should clear up some of the forums discussions around
the net. Sorry fans. Still, the game has its merrits, stay tuned for a
full review.
