Playboy: The Mansion

In an ever growing world of simulation games Hugh Hefner has decided to
get in on the action Playboy Style. You get to enter the world of
Playboy and learn Hefner’s empire by making a publishing Playboy
magazines. Each month you must not only manage your staff, which does
include Bunnies, but you must also take centerfold shots, covershots,
and have people write essays and articles. It is your decision what
makes it into the magazine. Once it is published you can see how
popular or dorky you are becoming.

In
this simulation game you play Hefner in his growing years. You publish
the first Playboy magazine and are able to build up his empire around
him. The game starts with just having a mansion, but as you go along
and grow in popularity you are then able to play in his famous grotto
and clubhouse.

All of the different places in the game also
serve as backdrops for the many pictures you will be taking of women.
This is by far the best part of the game…at least for the guys
anyway. You get to choose a girl and a backdrop and then you get to be
the camera man while they pose for you. You only get eight pictures so
make them good ones. You can even choose various outfits for the girls
depending on your theme for the month. Just a warning to guys though,
you get to see a lot of boobs in this, but no full nudity.

And
along the way to building this sexual empire, you get to party like
Hefner…you get to rub noses with the celebrities and even try and
have sex with them. What more could you ask for in a simulation game.
There are problems though with some of the graphics. When the girls are
changing positions in the camera mode there are several spots where the
girls look like they gained 50 pounds. Also, the game is a little
sluggish and has a ton of load screens. You even have to load if you
want to go upstairs…it makes game play take longer and can seem
redundant. To make matters worse, it is the same load screen all the
time. At least they could change the load screen and let you look at
the various Playboy Centerfolds over the years, but no they give you
stupid facts instead that keep repeating.

Overall the game is a
great idea with a unique concept, especially for guys, but watch out
for the load screens and graphics. Also, if you love Simulation games
then you might want to make sure that you have an open mind when you
sit down to play this one. I am a huge fan of The Sims and I had to
take a step back when I played this to be more objective so that I
didn’t make too many comparisons…so here is my only one..In my eyes
nothing has even come close to The Sims 2 in the idea of simulation
games.
