Toy Story 3 without Pixar

According to several reports around the net, the Walt Disney Studios are building up a new digital animation facility in Glendale, around the corner from DreamWorks animation, specifically to begin work on Toy Story 3.

Disney secured rights to the wildly popular franchise and it’s characters, though they were created by Pixar Animation studios who recently announced their succession from Disney following the release of next years Cars, directed by Pixar VP John Lasseter. The two companies are at odds, but Pixar has the proven record, confidently backing a claim that they’ve never made an unsuccesful movie. That claim prompted a fictional and very humorous article on DatelineHollywood.com.

So far there has been no comment from either company on the decision and what expectations will be on the new film, likely slated for a 2006/2007 release. That didn’t stop the films starring voices from voicing their opinion.

Cowboy Woody’s alter ego, Tom Hanks had this to say: “Quite frankly, the creative team that put together the original Toy Story was very specific and organic to the success of the process. Not that there aren’t other talented people that would be involved. That would be a bridge to cross when I come to it.”
